Identifying Suitable Restoration and Conservation Areas for Dracaena cinnabari Balf.f. in Socotra, Yemen

We examine the distribution of Dracaena cinnabari, Socotran Dragon’s Blood Tree, an endangered species endemic to island Socotra (Yemen)—and we propose accessibility approach its conservation, taking proximity local communities and land users into account. Using present occurrence D. applied a machine learning algorithm (random forest classifier) estimate potential across (overall validation accuracy 0.91) based on available climatic physiographic parameters. In parallel, used methodology generate map energy cost accessing areas from villages. This community-focused map, combined with could contribute decision-making processes related long-term ecological restoration reforestation activities. With our case study, wish emphasize that user-focused efforts implementation sustainable practices should play key roles in conserving tree species.
